We drove to Provo this week and dropped off Brady at the MTC.
As a mom all I could think of was, did I teach him everything that he needs to know. I remember when he was 10, I had an interview with my Stake President and he asked about my kids. I told him Brady was the oldest and 10 years old. He pointed out to me that I had already had him for 1/2 of the time that I was going to have him in my home for. That's when I first felt the pressure to make sure I teach him, and all my kids, as much as I can while they are still under the realm of my influence.
He didn't say much as we traveled, but he sat as close to me as possible most of the time. He will be a great missionary. He has such a great sense of empathy and understanding for other people feelings. I know that he is scared, but I know that this is the best thing that he can be doing. The best way to make friends and build relationships. The best way to build his self esteem. The best way to grow in his testimony and committment to a lifetime of service to the Lord.
